Opera di straordinaria potenza evocativa del mistero della Croce, con il Cristo che è avvolto dalla luce e, al contempo, emana luce, emblema dello Spirito Divino che si fa uomo, compiendo così quella sua missione terrena che, infine, trascende in un atto d’amore che lo restituisce al Padre Celeste.
Storia e Simbolo, carne e spirito, materia e forma ideale si intrecciano e convivono insieme in un quadro in cui l’immagine di Gesù rimane volutamente non del tutto definita e come vagamente stilizzata, fra storia e metastoria, fisica e metafisica.
Da qui le figure del romano e dell’ebreo che si intravedono ai lati a rappresentare il vissuto di Gesù, dal quale non si separano poichè, nella responsabilità della sua morte e per strade diverse, hanno adempiuto al Disegno.
Contemporaneamente su tutto e tutti una Luce che domina la scena: una specie di diamante e di cuore che ci rende l’unicità dell’Evento, che ognuno di noi vive intimamente come una improvvisa Rivelazione.

History and symbol, meat and spirit, subject and ideal form weave and cohabit together in a painting in which the Jesus’s image remains not defined and vaguely stylized, between history physic and metaphysic.
To the sides, the figures of the Roman and the Hebrew represent Jesus’s life; they don’t separate from him since, in the responsibility of his death and for different roads, they have carried out to the divine retribution. The black and white image reproduced here is a photo of many years ago. The original painting is in a private collection.
